I was rather surprised when I read the list of those who will be speaking at the 2011 Value Voters Summit (VVS) and saw that Ron Paul has been invited and is a confirmed speaker.
VVS is an annual political conference for American social conservative activists and elected officials from across the United States. Its hosted my the Family Research Council's FRC Action. Also one of it's sponsors is the American Family Association (AFA). Both listed as hate groups by the Southern Poverty Law Center. One thing is for sure, Ron Paul can't win the presidency without winning the primary. Politically speaking, I'd say this is a good way for him to win over more social conservatives.
What I'm wondering is what the libertarian congressman will give a speech about that social conservatives will find as appealing. VVS's listed values are Limit Government • Reduce Spending • Champion Traditional Values • Protect America. So it could be about anything. Paul doesn't go along all the way with the anti-gay agenda.

Are You Scared of Fracking? I Certainly Was
Scared of Fracking? I certainly was about the safety of the technique especially after seeing video of a water facet catching on fire. Skeptoid just did a podcast on fracking looking at the claims with a critical eye. It does not debunk it, just talks about it. I highly recommend it

Skeptoid
There are few technologies today quite so popularly disliked today as fracking, short for hydraulic fracturing, the practice of pumping high-pressure water into natural gas reserves deep underground to break up the rock and make the gas easier to mine. Fracking has been harshly criticized all around the world as dangerous, and has even been banned in a number of countries. There are charges that fracking uses toxic chemicals which contaminate ground water supplies; that it causes earthquakes; that it's killing endangered species; that tap water in fracking areas contains so much methane that it can actually burn; and that mysterious illnesses have resulted from the poisonous chemicals it pumps underground. Sound scary? It should. But how much of it is true? Fracking is a perfect place to turn our skeptical eye.

What Caused 9/11 and What Ron Paul Is Talking About
During the CNN Tea Party Debate Ron Paul brought up what led up to the 9/11 attacks. Once again he's being accused of blaming America by the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter (Santorum).
Santorum should read what Bush's own 9/11 Commission says.

UPDATED Rick Perry Grabbed Ron Paul's Arm During Debate Commercial Break
Looks presidential of Perry doesn't it?

Apparently whatever happened during a debate commercial got tense.... physically.
RonPaul.com called the incident "Force vs. Reason".
During a commercial break at Wednesday’s Republican debate, Rick Perry and Ron Paul continued their spirited exchange on stage. Suddenly, Perry grabbed Ron Paul’s forearm while aggressively pointing his index finger towards the Congressman’s face. Alerted by Perry’s menacing gestures, Ron Paul’s bodyguard (front left) was standing by, ready to protect the Congressman. [RonPaul.com 9/8/11]

My "Jon Stewart Slams Media Coverage of Ron Paul" Video Was Featured on the Washington Post
Today I was checking to see how my videos were doing on my YouTube channel. I noticed on my video titled: "Jon Stewart Slams Media Coverage of Ron Paul" had something at the bottom right corner that said:
Here it is if you haven't seen it.
As Seen On: Opinions: Washington ...
I clicked on the link that showed where my video views were coming from. The link was to a Washington Post Opinion piece by Erik Wemple.
From the Washington Post :
A note to media observers: All coverage of presidential candidate Ron Paul is bona fide coverage. Even the meta-media stuff. The link "Jon Stewart" links directly to my video of me commentating about Jon Stewart slamming the media for ignoring Ron Paul when he's doing very well in the polls and in the debates.
A little background here: Paul scored huge in the Ames straw poll this month, a result out of whack with pre-Ames coverage that all too often ignored the longtime Texas congressman. Thus began an extended round of media-on-media stories about Paul and his lack of exposure.
Jon Stewart did a piece on it, as did Piers Morgan, as did the Washington Post ombudsman, as did Fox News. And many others, to boot. [Washington Post 8/30/11]

Top 10 Right Wing Reactions to Fear Inc Islamophobia Report
The Center for American Progress released a report, “Fear, Inc.: The Roots of the Islamophobia Network in America”139-page exposé on the U.S. Islamophobia network. Of course, the right wing media reacted.
I had an idea of chronicling the top 10 after I read a piece on Media Matters about Fox Business' racist host Eric Bolling making up a quote he claims he was directly reading from the report. Think Progress saved me the trouble.

Megyn Kelly May Get Fired for Supporting Transgender Americans
This is the second time in less than a week I've seen Fox News Host Megyn Kelly break away from the Fox Narrative. This time it isn't doing actual journalism, now it's her supporting the rights of transgenders
While discussing the controversy of Chaz Bono: a transgender participating in Dancing With the Stars, Megyn Kelly showed distaste for his attackers.
KELLY: The transgendered, they go through so much pain and emotional turmoil in dealing with the effects of that disorder or whatever you want to call it and I don’t think they need people piling on and mocking them once they do something that many people consider very brave. But that’s me, that’s my two cents.
This is strange giving the Fox News and it's president's deep seated expressed hatred against the LBGT community.
I don't know what kind of contract Shepard Smith has had that's kept him on the air for so long. But Kelly may be following behind if she keeps this up.
Now I take my hat off and also this time give her a standing ovation.
