Derrick Bell: Brown v. Board was Anti-Communist

Derrick Bell is the recently deceased African American law professor Andrew Breitbart is attacking from his grave.

Breitbart's website headline: THE VETTING: OBAMA EMBRACES RACIALIST HARVARD PROF. This is the video I mentioned in my last post Andrew Breitbart claimed he had from Obama's college days. I'll be covering the other stuff their claiming to expose about Obama as they release them. So far they are just rehashing old Obama mythology with Saul Alinsky mythology. Regarding the Derrick Bell video, Bell himself is well respected and there's nothing too controversial to see it even when Breitbart.com editor John Pollak is pressed on the so called "bombshell".

There's something else that might catch a right winger's attention. In another video of Bell posted online, he gives a lecture on the election of Barack Obama as President and the effect its had on America. He brought up how his critical race theory fits into that. Through what he calls interest convergence, he argues the equality, achievements, and interests of African Americans would be nothing like it is today if whites hadn't had their interests at stake. One of the most interesting examples he brings up is Brown v. Board, calling it an "anti-communist decision" rather than an equality decision.

Bell is right that passing laws combating inequality and discrimination in the United States were a strategy against Communism particularly from Franklin Roosevelt to Dwight Eisenhower. Racial discrimination was becoming the Communists' most valuable assets in propaganda against the United States during the early Cold War. That's a critical analysis when you look at the writings of the previous presidents, you see they saw racial discrimination as a national security priority. Fascinating that it was a contributing force in passing equality laws. Same applies to the Civil War being fought that freed the slaves. Most Northerners were fighting primarily to save the union. If it weren't for the South trying to secede, President Abraham Lincoln probably wouldn't have had the support to free slaves in the Southern states.

Finally, that fits with the first African American elected president, Barack Obama. Obama did not win a majority of white votes, but enough saw him as the best man to lead our country. It was wondered that Obama would suffer the Bradley Effect, in which the polling was wrong because some voters, who did not want to appear bigoted, said they voted for Obama even though they did not. Bill Maher on Larry King Live in 2008 joked about there being a Reverse Bradley Effect saying: "The reverse Bradley Effect is the racists who get together with each other down by the moose lodge -- and, of course, they couldn't admit they're voting for Barack Obama, but they get in the voting booth and they go eww, you know what, my kid's teeth are falling out and it did sound like he had the better health care plan. I hope that curtain is closed all the way, because I'm going to vote for Barack Obama." Although the number of racists who did that is likely small, that would be an example of interest convergence. Bell did not refer to racists like Maher did, but the whites in general. Obama was seen by enough in that population as the best man.

Megyn Kelly May Get Fired for Supporting Transgender Americans

This is the second time in less than a week I've seen Fox News Host Megyn Kelly break away from the Fox Narrative. This time it isn't doing actual journalism, now it's her supporting the rights of transgenders

While discussing the controversy of Chaz Bono: a transgender participating in Dancing With the Stars, Megyn Kelly showed distaste for his attackers.

KELLY: The transgendered, they go through so much pain and emotional turmoil in dealing with the effects of that disorder or whatever you want to call it and I don’t think they need people piling on and mocking them once they do something that many people consider very brave. But that’s me, that’s my two cents.

This is strange giving the Fox News and it's president's deep seated expressed hatred against the LBGT community.

I don't know what kind of contract Shepard Smith has had that's kept him on the air for so long. But Kelly may be following behind if she keeps this up.
Now I take my hat off and also this time give her a standing ovation.

Megyn Kelly Debunks Claim that Welfare Recipients are Drug Using Mooching Monsters

I don't usually cite anything from Fox News if I want to present factual information, but I will if that's what it take to get through to a right winger. I already detailed this absurd policy my current Florida governor Rick Scott thought would save money:

Drug Testing Welfare Recipients before they receive welfare benefits.

I was especially surprised when Fox News host Megyn Kelly did a report showing the so far failure of Rick Scott's welfare policy. I take my hat off to her on this one.

Another WorldNetDaily Conspiracy Theory: This Time Between Muslims and Gays

Haj Amin al-Husseini (Islamic Fundamentalist) meeting with Adolf Hitler
The birther central website WorldNetDaily approved by presidential candidates Michelle Bachmann and Herman Cain is at it again. This time their owner Joseph Farah has decoded a long-term conspiracy between Muslims and gays. He's figured out that American Muslims are supporting gay marriage as part of a broader agenda. The long-term goal is to then open the door to one of scariest tenets of Islamic Law........

Anti-Gay Family Research Council Document: "Homosexual Activists Work To Normalize Sex With Boys"- Declassified:

You may have heard of these notable quotes from the Family Research Council. These are some of the many things that got FRC on the Southern Poverty Law Center's list of hate groups. What's is in the document that these quotes came from is Protocols of the Elders of Zion type of propaganda used to defame gays and lesbians as dangerous pedophiles. Antisemites cite the Protocols as their influence. Homophobes cite the Family Research Council.
To read more on the Protocols of the Elders of Zion visit Skeptoid.

"...one of the primary goals of the homosexual rights movement is to abolish all age of consent laws and to eventually recognize pedophiles as the 'prophets' of a new sexual order." —"Homosexual Behavior & Pedophilia," a FRC publication, July 1999, http://www.frc.org/misc/bl057.pdf

"Gaining access to children has been a long-term goal of the homosexual movement." —"Homosexual Behavior and Pedophilia," FRC publication, July 1999, http://www.frc.org/misc/bl057.pdf

The FRC has removed the document from their site. They must not realize that there's no delete button on the internet. I've been able to obtain the document through the Internet Archive.

Michele Bachmann Endorsed Birther Website WorldNetDaily

Lunatics are taking over the asylum. Now they are taking over the Republican Party. At the 2010 CPAC convention, Michele Bachmann gave a speech and said something that may come back to bite her in the 2012 presidential election.

Is Santorum Blowing It On Homosexuality?

No pun intended. Dan Savage has warned presidential candidate Rick Santorum that he will redefine the word "Rick" as he did with "Santorum" if the candidate does any gay bashing BS.

I don't think he's off to a good start.

SANTORUM: If the Supreme Court gives the right to consensual sexual activity then you have the right to incest, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to all sorts of — you have the right to anything if it’s consent. When I said that, the gay community went ballistic and they came after me. The mainstream media called for me to resign because I was comparing homosexuality to incest and other things. No I wasn’t, I was saying if the standard is consent than how do you rationally draw to the line, you can’t. And they aren’t. And subsequent to that the Massachusetts decision and others came down and I stood for marriage. [...]
It is not fine with me that New York has destroyed marriage. It is not fine with me that New York has set a template that can cause great division in this country. There is not 50 definitions of marriage.
As Think Progress noted:

Lawrence, the Court did draw a line, noting that the right to consent has its limits. “The present case does not involve minors,” the majority ruled. “It does not involve persons who might be injured or coerced or who are situated in relationships where consent might not easily be refused. It does not involve public conduct or prostitution. It does not involve whether the government must give formal recognition to any relationship that homosexual persons seek to enter. The case does involve two adults who, with full and mutual consent from each other, engaged in sexual practices common to a homosexual lifestyle.”

Which is Better? Media Research Center or Accuracy In Media?

In my last post I showed the difference between  Media Research Center and what could be considered it's liberal counterparts. "Media Matters For America" and "Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting" (FAIR) are the most infamous. The difference is simple: MRC is about bias not accuracy. The blog Left Hook explained this further. Is there a conservative media watchdog organization that cares about accuracy in journalism? Well... one has accuracy in it's name anyway: Accuracy in Media or (AIM). Is it a true counterpart to MMFA and FAIR unlike MRC? No, in fact its as far from them as MRC is.
AIM mainstreams and pushes a conspiratorial mindset engaging in speculation, distorted half-truths, and unproved assertions of fact. In their world facts are NOT irrefutable.

Since it's founding and especially in the election of Obama its legitimized the craziest conspiracy theories and has said the craziest things such as:.

Jon Stewart Slams Fox News Stupidity Over Norway Christian Terrorist

July 27th, 2011

The labeling of Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik as a Christian has brought out the victim side of many conservatives in the news. Jon Stewart took notice of the maimed pundits on Fox News tonight, pouring through their complaints and siding with some of their grievances, before compiling and extensive montage of insults culled from the network’s most popular shows.
“The massacre in Norway is a tragic story about the persecution of Christians,” he teased after a clip of Laura Ingraham arguing that labeling Breivik a Christian was disrespectful to the religion. Those that highlight his “crusader mentality,” Stewart advised her, “are not doing it to get at you.” Instead, he argued, they are doing it because of “the shooter’s 1500-page, crucifix-drenched manifesto.”

Rachel Maddow Sued For $50 Million!!!

Right Wing Watch
Brian Tashman
July 26, 2011

The head of far-right Minnesota-based ministry is suing Rachel Maddow for $50 million over her reporting on the group’s militantly anti-gay beliefs. You Can Run But You Cannot Hide, an organization led by Christian metal rocker Bradlee Dean, believes, among other things, that gays are responsible for the Holocaust and is closely tied to Michele Bachmann, who once publicly prayed for the ministry’s success. Larry Klayman, the founder of Judicial Watch, who recently condemned “heterophobia” in America, filed the suit against Maddow, alleging that the TV host slandered Dean by reporting his favorable comments about radical Muslims who want to execute gays and lesbians:

George Washington was a Homosexual

That's what Fox News is falsely claiming a California school is trying to teach our kids. They're out on on there old hate agenda again.

From: mediamatters.org
July 16, 2011

Fox News' Eric Bolling mischaracterized an education reform bill in California, claiming that "what they want to do" is rewrite textbooks to say that, "by the way, George Washington was a homosexual, or, you know, so and so was a lesbian." In fact, the new law simply requires public schools to include the contributions of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Americans in their curriculum, adding to an existing list of minority groups.

Bolling: Purpose Of CA Education Reform Is To Rewrite Textbooks To Say "George Washington Was A Homosexual"

Bolling: "What They Want To Do" Is Rewrite History Books To Say "George Washington Was A Homosexual." Discussing a California education reform recently signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown, Bolling said:
This is California rewriting the textbooks -- the history books -- saying, by the way, George Washington was a homosexual, or, you know, so and so was a lesbian. That's what they want to do. [Fox News, The Five, 7/15/11]
