Ron Paul Took in a Racially Discriminated Pregnant Couple in 1972- The Compassion of Ron Paul

James Williams an African American of Matagorda County, Texas tells a touching true story that brought a tear to my eye. And I'm not even a crier. In 1972, his wife had a pregnancy complication. No doctor would care for their bi-racial child. It even ended up with one of the hospital nurses calling the police on James.
Any story about racial prejudice and rising from it is great to hear

Not only did Dr. Ron Paul take his wife in when no one else would to deliver their baby, Williams never received a hospital bill for the delivery.

Take a look

Brent Bozell: Obama Looks like a "A Skinny, Ghetto Crackhead"

Brent Bozell, president of the Media Research Center appeared on Hannity to discuss the Liberal "Media Mash".

In responding to Chris Mathews comments that Newt Gingrich "looked like a car bomber", Bozell asked what would happen if Sean Hannity said Obama looked like a "A Skinny, Ghetto Crackhead".

He then quickly added that: "which by the way you might want to say that Barack Obama does" "everybody on the left would come foreword and demand he'd be fired"

Well... good thing you don't have a job as a news anchor Brent because I think you would.

Unless you work at Fox News with their tolerance policy for racially offensive and racist statements.

Fox News Graphics FAIL Alert- Lists Romney Twice in Poll

I was watching Fox and Friends and they had Larry Sabato UVA Political Science professor discussing Ron Paul's successful polling.
It was between 7:40 a.m - 7:50 a.m CT today when they showed a graphics poll. Romney's name was listed twice in place of what I think was suppose to be Ron Paul or Newt Gingrich's name. The graphics poll was only on the screen for two seconds, so Fox must have realized the error.

This isn't their first similar graphics fail.
I don't have the screen shot or video for this but once I obtain it I'll show it.

UPDATED 1/7/12
Someone got it.

Media Research Center: Forget Facts on Welfare Recipients and Drugs Use

The mindset of the Media Research Center (MRC) and its affiliate CNS News seem to be that it's better to believe something and never look at facts than it is to actually know the facts. They demonstrated that again by posting a Youtube video titled "Dem Lawmaker Questions Drug Tests For Unemployment". In the video, Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.) questioned if the lawmakers who created the drug testing provision of the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2011, read the Constitution. The point the video tries to make is that the congresswomen supposedly said something outrageous. Outrageous as in what? Was something she said factually incorrect or out of touch? Only in the MRC and CNS wing of the conservative movement would you think such criticism of the program is just a bunch of liberal hocus pocus and gibberish. I wonder if they missed  Fox News' Megyn Kelly already debunked the right wing claim.

This is the hallmark of the crack pot way of conservative thinking. When you are a self described fiscal conservative, what does that mean? Do you use evidence based economics or what a lot on the right wing call "common sense"? When I say "common sense" I don't mean that if most scientists say the earth revolves around the sun, that's probably the science. The kind of common sense I'm referring to is put out by someone who would say "I'm not a scientist, but I see the sun around revolve around the Earth everyday." In the case of the MRC and CNS News, that's how they think on every issue. They act as if its a religious duty to  propagate (not prove) why their version of conservatism works. The propagate instead of prove because as I pointed out in a previous post, MRC is about bias and not accuracy. That is their fundamental difference between their progressive counterpart Media Matters for America. Demagoguery is one of their core principles. They demagog anyone they think is in on the "liberal media" conspiracy and attack anyone who goes after their fellow conservatives. Even if it's simply factually correcting a right wing claim they scream LIBERAL MEDIA! If your not with their team all the way, your against them

Politifact 2011 Lie of the Year- "Republicans Voted to End Medicare"?

The Democratic Party should be worried that they could receive the Politifact 2011 Lie of the Year award. The polls closed Friday and the Politifact announcement of the winner could come any day now. The lie that could make them win the award was that "Republicans voted to end Medicare." -- The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and other Democrats.

Congressman Paul Ryan told his followers to vote in the poll, so that could give the lie a boost. Liberal bloggers are saying he's trying to rig the polls

My prediction is that it will be one of the following finalists:
  • President Obama "went around the world and apologized for America." -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney
  • "Republicans voted to end Medicare." -- The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and other Democrats
  • Congressional Republicans have introduced dozens of bills on social issues and other topics, but "zero on job creation." -- Facebook posts
  • The economic stimulus created "zero jobs." -- The National Republican Senatorial Committee and other Republicans
Then if I had to guess which one will win, I'd base it on details of the last Lie of the Year Winners from 2009 and 2010.

Both were pants on fire rulings, both came from Republicans, and both came from a specific politician or political party rather than a float around claim circulating in on the internet when listed as finalists in 2009 and 2010 . The fact they were coming from Republicans factored into the vote because Republicans are more seen as liars or say inaccurate statements more often. To be fair, Democrats aren't completely innocent when it comes to truth telling. They just do it much less often.

PolitiFact's Lie of the Year for 2009: "Death Panels"

PolitiFact's Lie of the Year for 2010: 'A government takeover of health care'

These three keys to winning the Lie of the Year Award narrow it down to two.
  • President Obama "went around the world and apologized for America." -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney
  • The economic stimulus created "zero jobs." -- The National Republican Senatorial Committee and other Republicans
The winner I'm Predicting is: The economic stimulus created "zero jobs." -- The National Republican Senatorial Committee and other Republicans

Although Paul Ryan might have stirred things up with encouraging his followers to vote in the poll.

What Rick Perry's Hate mongering "Obama's War on Religion" Video Reminds me Of

I'm having dayshavoo to my days in the Christian Right. Rick Perry's "Obama's War on Religion" video took me back. When a political campaingn can't possibly sell their policies in the free marketplace of ideas, they resort to fear and emotion. In this case Rick Perry is dog whistling Obama is not really one of us.

Back during the 2004 Presidential Election, president Bush owed alot to the Christian Right in the voter turnout. During that battle, the Republican National Committee had sent mass mailings to residents of two states fear mongering that "liberals" (a dirty word to them) were seeking to ban the Bible.

The mailings had images of the Bible with "banned" super imposed on it and a gay couple with the label "allowed." A mailing to Arkansas residents warned: "This will be Arkansas if you don't vote." A similar mailing pamphlet was sent in West Virginia. Interfaith Alliance called the tactic "despicable"

I was just 12 years old during the election and this was literally what I thought my mother was fighting against when she was campaigning for President Bush. I didn't see it as a fight between two parties with different ideas. I saw it as a fight between good and evil. This came to the point where during that time I ended up writing a letter to my congressman as part of a government affairs assignment. What was the letter about? It was on the then and still non-existent threat to remove God from our lives. My mother suggested that as a subject to write about my concerns to my representative.

This (below) was not sent by a fringe group, but by the Republican National Committee. Obviously they were targeting low information and religious fundamentalist voters.

Be sure to Vote in Politifact's Lie of the Year for 2011

The finalists are were not what I thought they would be, but they're pretty infamous. I had a hard time deciding, but I picked one lie that won't die and has lasted for three years:

President Obama "went around the world and apologized for America." -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney

The Finalists
  • President Obama "went around the world and apologized for America." -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney
  • The Obama administration's review of obsolete regulations was "unprecedented." -- President Barack Obama
  • "Republicans voted to end Medicare." -- The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and other Democrats
  • Because of more restrictive voting laws, Republicans "want to literally drag us all the way back to Jim Crow laws." -- Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., and head of the Democratic National Committee
  • Scientists are "questioning the original idea that man-made global warming is what is causing the climate to change. … (It is) more and more being put into question."-- Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry
  • Congressional Republicans have introduced dozens of bills on social issues and other topics, but "zero on job creation." -- Facebook posts
  • The economic stimulus created "zero jobs." -- The National Republican Senatorial Committee and other Republicans
